Training & Competency

  • Workers must be trained in safe operating procedures (SOP & VOC)
  • Emergency response drills (Emergency Management Plan)
  • Certification and training for high-risk tasks (working at heights, high pressure hoses, first aid training).

Hazard Identification and Risk Management

  • Use of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Take 5 checklists.
  • Site-specific risk assessments.
  • Daily safety briefings (toolbox talks, pre-starts meetings).

Emergency Preparedness

  • Clear evacuation routes and muster points.
  • First-aid and fire-fighting equipment accessible on site.
  • Communication systems for isolated locations.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Adherence to Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws (Australia’s WHS Regulations).
  • Training in WHS statutory for supervisors.
